UPDATED: A fundraiser has raised over £5,000 for two Warrington families left homeless after a devastating blaze ripped through their semi-detached properties last Friday.

So far, the GoFundMe page set up by Gemma Tocher has raised £5,115 for the two families from Lavander Close, Saxon Park, Warrington.

She posted:

“There are no words to describe what these poor families are going through! Earlier today 2 families have lost their homes due to a house fire! They have no home, no belongings, no personal treasures to keep it’s all gone. There are children involved that now have no home, no security, not even anywhere to sit and do something simple as homework.
There are also some beloved pets that need somewhere to stay.
If anybody can spare even a few pence to help these families it would be greatly appreciated.

A total of six fire engines, from Warrington, Penketh (x2), Widnes, Birchwood, Lymm and an aerial ladder platform attended the scene at around 3;20 pm yesterday following rfeports of a house fire on Lavender Close.
At around 20:55 last night a fire engine and the rapid response rescue unit from Alsager arrived to relieve some of the firefighters still in attendance.
Fire crews have used the aerial ladder platform to remove the roof tiles and continue dampening down. Six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the properties to check for further hot spots and signs of fire spread. A structural engineer has also been on site to assess the stability of the properties.

It’s understood that five dogs were also rescued due to the prompt action of a local refuse collector.
