Enlarged car park plan at historic Chaigely School

PLANNING chiefs at Warrington Borough Council are studying proposals for an enlarged car park at Grade 2 Listed Chaigely School, Thelwall.

The scheme would create 28 new parking bays, giving a total of 34 when taking into account a redesigned existing car park.
The main school building dates from 1747 when it was known as Greenfields House.
The applicants state that increased student enrolment and an enlarged staff base mean the existing car park is not longer adequate.

But the proposals will not impact on the main house, nor the wider grounds.
Some tree planting will be included in the existing lawn to soften the impact of the changes.
There would be no impact on the highway network in the area.
Council planning officers are currently studying the proposals.
