Residents gain vital life-saving skills

NINE local residents gained vital lifesaving skills at Safety Central in Lymm by completing the free Heartstart first aid course.

The hands-on training covered essential techniques such as CPR, dealing with choking, and using a defibrillator — knowledge that could one day save a life.
The Heartstart course is part of a monthly community initiative designed to make first aid more accessible to everyone, regardless of age or background. Held at Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service’s Safety Central education centre, the course is free to attend, with tickets available through Eventbrite.

“Emergencies can happen anywhere, and the actions taken in the first few minutes are often critical,” said Sandy Thomson, one of the Heartstart trainers. “We’re proud to offer this course to the public each month, giving people the tools and confidence they need to step in and help.”
The session is designed to be relaxed, practical, and beginner-friendly — no prior experience is needed. Each month, new participants walk away with skills that could make a life-or-death difference in their homes, workplaces, or communities.
Upcoming Heartstart courses are completely free and held monthly at Safety Central in Lymm.
Places can be reserved via Eventbrite – early booking is recommended due to high demand.
