RESIDENTS in Latchford and Grappenhall, Warrington, staged special street parties on Sunday to commemorate the 80th anniversary of VE Day.

They included Gwyneth Thomas (94), who has been to every street party in Laurel Bank. She reflected on the past, looking at pictures with Marian Kay (94).

Residents on Denver Road, Latchford, also entered into the spirit of the occasion as road closures were in place for the day.
There was plenty of red, white and blue on show as residents tucked into fine displays of food.
The official commemoration is this coming Thursday, May 8th.
