Green-fingered learners help cultivate community food garden

A group of green fingered learners from Walton Lea Partnership on Chester Road, Warrington, have been busy cultivating a community food garden at St Thomas’ Church in Stockton Heath.

As part of the national Eco Church initiative, reverend Michael invited the Community Impact group from Walton Lea to enrich the sandy soil in the church grounds and plant vegetables for the local community to pick and enjoy.
The group has planted runner beans, onions, lettuce, radish and carrots and will be popping by each week to water them.
Reverend Michael said: “We enjoy a lovely partnership with this group of learners who are now regular visitors to our church. It is uplifting to see them growing their skills in a way that enriches our community.”
