FIREFIGHTERS were called out to a large woodland fire between Winwick and Burtonwood yesterday (Saturday) evening.
At 20:33, one crew from Penketh attended reports of a fire off Alder Lane between Winwick and Burtonwood.
Crews relayed water and used hose reel water jets to put out a fire involving an area of woodland measuring 20 metres by 15 metres.
In another incident on Friday evening, one fire crew was called out to reports of a jetty on fire on the Manchester Ship Canal.
Crews used a hose reel water jet to dampen down a jetty on the Manchester Ship Canal near Moss Lane, which is believed to have been set alight deliberately. Police were called. Anyone with information should contact 101.
