The Trans Pennine Trail (TPT) has been chosen as the route for the upcoming “Travelling Blind” challenge, set to take place on Monday 7th September.
This unique event aims to support Guide Dogs UK, raise awareness about accessibility along the Trail as well as highlighting the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities.
The “Travelling Blind” challenge will feature Andrew Elliker-Reeve, who will embark on a 22-day, 300-mile journey along the TPT, accompanied by his wife and a dedicated support team. The event will include various stops along the Trail, providing opportunities for local authorities, partners, and community members to engage with Andrew and learn more about the importance of accessibility.
Every penny raised goes directly to Guide Dogs UK.
Andrew Elliker-Reeve shared his excitement about the challenge, saying, “This journey is not just about me; it’s about raising awareness and making a difference. I hope that through this challenge, we can inspire others to see the world differently and support the cause of accessibility for all.”
“We are thrilled to support Andrew in this incredible journey,” said Mandy Loach, TPT Team Leader. “Andrew’s determination and resilience are truly inspirational. Despite the challenges he has faced, nothing stops him from achieving his goals. We are glad to be a part of this event and to support such a remarkable individual”.
The TPT team will be supporting Andrew throughout his event and keeping up to date with the progress. The event will also serve as an opportunity to showcase the beauty and accessibility of the Trans Pennine Trail.
