SHOCK news from the Cheshire Women’s Cricket League is that four times champions Appleton have resigned from the league.
The Appleton women’s team have for years shared Appleton Cricket Club’s Lyons Lane ground and were for a long time a dominant force in the women’s league.
But last year they had a disappointing season and in November it was announced that they would play in division two this year – the first time they would not have been in the top flight.
The 2nd XI would have played in division three.
Grappenhall and Lymm Oughtrington Park have women’s teams who are expected to play in division four, which is likely to be split into three regional divisions.
