Dunky’s Day Nursery in Warrington has been praised in a new Ofsted report following an inspection that took place in November.

Dunky’s Day Nursery on Old Liverpool Road in Warrington has once again secured a ‘Good’ rating in the new report.
The report highlights the nursery’s warm and welcoming environment, effective leadership and management and well thought through curriculum supporting children’s growth and development.
Inspectors noted that children enjoy coming to nursery and separate from their parents well. In the classrooms, children are keen to learn as they explore the highly resourced environment. All are confident as they readily allow visitors to join their play.
They also noted that staff form ‘strong bonds with children’, which helps them to feel ‘safe and secure’. Staff promote babies’ communication and language development through songs and rhymes. They sit with younger children as they join in with a ‘what’s in the bag’ session. Older children learn to share and take turns because staff support them to manage their own emotions.
Staff were described as having ‘high expectations for behaviour’ and being ‘positive role models’ and never miss an opportunity to praise a child’s achievements or behaviour. Consequently, children have good levels of self-esteem and behave very well.

The curriculum at the nursery includes mindfulness activities, such as yoga, to help children regulate their emotions and staff create a ‘calm and positive social environment’ and provide children with opportunities to develop their gross-motor skills.
For example, in the garden, children learn to negotiate space and climb obstacles as they run around in the fresh air. Staff provide opportunities for children to learn the benefits of being healthy. They provide nutritious meals and encourage children to join in with regular exercise.
Dunky’s Day Nursery Warrington caters for children aged 0 to 5, with 55 places available. Operating Monday to Friday, 7am to 7pm, all year round, the nursery employs 13 members of childcare staff, ten of whom hold early years qualifications from levels 2-4.
The nursery celebrates its tenth anniversary this year and is one of seven award-winning day nurseries and forest schools in the Dunky’s group. The company was established by Siobhan McCarroll after a career in childcare. She opened her first nursery in the North West in 2005.
Over the years, she has grown Dunky’s to a small group of nurseries in Culcheth, Farnworth, Great Sankey, Hapsford, Runcorn, Warrington and Gulliver’s World.

All the nurseries have gained either ‘Outstanding’ or ‘Good’ in Ofsted inspections.
Tracy Towns, Manager of Dunky’s Day Nursery Warrington, said: “We’re so pleased with how the Ofsted inspection went and are delighted to share that we received Good in all areas. Our staff team were eager to showcase the nursery and the amazing environments that we have created, both indoors and outdoors.
“Lots of our staff team have worked at the nursery for many years and this continuation of our Good rating is a great achievement, and a fabulous recognition of the relationships that staff have built up with both children and parents.
