AFTER knuckling down to be a serious composer former prog rocker Lewis Gill from Latchford, Warrington, has been thrilled to have his first solo piece for piano performed by renowned virtuoso Fidan Aghayeva-Edler in Berlin.
The 56-year-old Avant Garde Composer has been active as a musician since the late 1980’s, essentially as a guitarist but then purely as a composer since mid-2023.
He recently finished his first piece for solo piano and has now had it performed by the renowned virtuoso Fidan Aghayeva-Edler who played his ‘piano piece no 1’ in Berlin.
Lewis said: “After finishing my piece I then looked around for someone who might want to play it. I had Fidan Aghayeva-Edler recommended by a Turkish composer called Turgut Erçetin, so I emailed her via her website and included an
attachment of the score and some background info about me. Three
“Three days later she emailed me back saying that she liked the piece and would play it in a professional setting, well filmed and well recorded.
I then emailed her again to say go ahead and please send me a video clip of the performance when its done. This is exactly what she did!
“I am absolutely delighted with her performance and I will be sending her more of my piano music in the future for (hopefully) more performances.”
Fidan Aghayeva-Edler (born in Baku, Azerbaijan) is an Azerbaijani pianist best known for her modern and contemporary music and she has developed a greater affinity for the music of Ludwig van Beethoven and Claude Debussy.
