A pilot walk has been organised next Sunday (Jan 19) bringing various mental health charities in the town together.
The Warrington Wellbeing Walk is planned for 10:00 am on Sunday 19th January 2025 at Moore Nature Reserve.
One of the co-ordinators, Lee Payton from Andy’s Man Club, said:”This is our pilot walk, to bring all mental health charities from around the Warrington area together to collaborate and bring them all together for one purpose to get people talking.
The event is open to all and will have a very informal structure to follow. With the priority to be based around “Breaking the Stigma” surrounding mental health.
Anyone under the age of 16 will be required to be supervised at all points.
In the 2 hours (Approx) the event is taking place one man in the UK will take his own life.
Of the countless people who will hopefully be there, 1 in 5 will have experienced some form of mental health issue.
I in 6 will have experienced suicidal thoughts.
January is statistically one of the worst months, for suicide ideation and mental health issues.
There will be no judgement on the walk, and although it will be informal there will be guidelines to follow in regard to what is discussed.
For example, no criminal matters or religions will be discussed.
