Protective Services students from Priestley College filled two vans full of supplies for Warrington Foodbank.
Among the students was Lavinia Burcea and other members of her team they called Merry Meals who joined forces with the congregation at St John’s United Reformed Church in their efforts.
“My living room was full and it took two trips in the van to empty it,” said Lavinia, who also studies Maths and Spanish.
The Merry Meals team also went to Aldi each night and asked shoppers to make a contribution on their way out.
Some gave as much as two bags of shopping that has now made its way to the food bank.
The class collected everything from spaghetti to custard, shaving foam to rice. There was also selection boxes, toilet rolls and cereals among the collection.
“We were really happy with how everyone worked together and how generous they were,” said Lavinia.
