THE devastating breach of the Bridgewater Canal at Little Bollington near Lymm has revealed some interesting finds.
As well as car bumpers and bicycles, Lymm resident Jon Hobson was shocked to find a giant Crayfish alongside fresh water mussels.
They were spotted by the cable bridge near Agden, where the canal breached.
Jon said: “The mussels are all over, but there’s some big specimens dotted about on the bottom!”
The one-clawed Crayfish is understood to be a Signal Crayfish.
Meanwhile, dramatic footage of the canal breach was captured by Taylors Abroad (see below).
It igives the account of their frightening experience as the events unfolded in real time of the 2025 New years day Bridgewater canal breach at Little Bollington.
The breach took place after 16 hours of non-stop heavy rain, that filled the canal up so much that it was going above the towpath and flooding over. This put so much pressure on a 260-year-old canal embankment that it completely collapsed into the worst breach since 1971, when the canal breached in the exact same spot!
The footage was captured by Josh Taylor who lives on a 70ft Narrowboat with his Parents, Diane and Andy. Together wthey travel the beautiful waterways of the UK.
