TWO of the UK’s loneliest rescue dogs – who are facing another Christmas in Warrington-based kennels – have written letters to Santa Paws wishing for forever homes.
Alvin a five-year-old lurcher and six-year-old Victor have penned special letters in the hopes Father Christmas can help them find the homes that have eluded them so far.
Alvin
Alvin was rescued by the RSPCA in May 2022 suffering from untreated injuries caused by hunting which his owner had failed to get veterinary treatment for.
He’s been at the RSPCA’s Warrington, Halton & St Helens Animal Centre ever since – more than 1,000 days – but only went up for adoption in February after his former owner was dealt with in court and signed him over for rehoming. This will be his THIRD Christmas in kennels.
Alvin is a sweet, laid-back and gentle dog who loves to snooze on the sofa, loves the company of people, and enjoys heading out to explore on walks. He also loves his food and does a little tap dance when you bring him his dinner!
His letter to Santa reads:
My name is Alvin, this year I have been nice. I don’t want any presents this year, I just want to find my forever home. Thank you Santa, your friend Alvin x
Alvin would like an experienced home and can’t live with other pets as he loves to chase.
Victor
Victor arrived at the RSPCA’s Warrington, Halton & St Helens Animal Centre after being rescued by inspectors and is also facing his THIRD Christmas in the charity’s care after more than 950 days since his arrival.
The staff often see Victor standing by the door watching as friends leave kennels for the last time, off to their new homes, while he is overlooked time and time again. When he realises it’s not his turn he drops his head and heads back to his bed.
He’s a cuddly boy who loves to sit beside you and watch the world go by, and his favourite thing to do is go in the car so he can stick his head out of the window!
He’s looking for a home without children or other pets, and with owners who have owned lurchers before.
His letter to Santa says:
Dear Santa, My name is Victor and this year I have been nice. For Christmas, I don’t want any presents, I just want to find my forever home. Thank you, Victor x
