Caped crusader who went to aid of officer under attack thanked by police

VIDEO: A caped crusader who went to the aid of an officer under attack on Lovely Lane, Warrington, has been thanked by police.

The member of the public who was in a near by barbers dashed to the aid of the officer under attack, still wearing his cape and dragged the attacker to the ground.

Footage of the incident was captured on camera and is now going viral on social media.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said:” Officers have thanked a member of the public for his support after an officer was assaulted in Warrington.

“The incident occurred at around 11.40am on Tuesday 17 December in the Lovely Lane area.

“As the assault was taking place a member of the public from a near by hairdressers intervened to assist the officer.

“A 50-year-old man was subsequently arrested in relation to the matter, he has since been passed to the care of health professionals.”
