One person trapped and several injured after collision involving bus, HGV and car

ONE person was reported trapped and several others received minor injuries following a collision involving a bus, HGV and car at Burtonwood, Warrington, early this morning.

The incident resulted in a road closure while emergency service included three fire crews attended at the scene.

At 05:25 crews from Warrington and Penketh were called to reports of a serious collision on Lockheed Road, Burtonwood, Warrington.

Crews dealt with a road traffic collision involving an Omega Busways double decker bus, heavy goods vehicle and a car. A number of peoplem sustained minor injuries and one person was trapped on the bus. Firefighters worked alongside police and ambulance colleagues.

Lockheed Road, which runs parallel to the M62, was closed in both directions causing heavy traffic congestion around Junction 8.

A number casualties who ustained minor injuries were taken to hospital. Crews worked to release the person who was trapped. Traffic built up in the area and diversions were put in place while the road remained closed.

UPDATE 07:30 | One casualty was released from a vehicle and was taken into the care of paramedics.

UPDATE 08:37 | The road has been reported cleared and traffic easing in the area.
