A brace of goals from George Waring was not quite enough for Warrington Rylands as they fell 3-2 to Chorley Town in the third round of the FA Trophy.

With Storm Darragh blowing around Victory Park Stadium it was Warrington who pressed forward early. A long clearance up field however, flew over the Rylands defence, landed at the feet of Tom Carr and despite Luke Pilling running out to block him, directed the ball into the net with just 7 minutes on the clock.

The Blues continued to push on and it was George Waring who slotted the ball past Matthew Urwin 10 minutes later to the loud applause from the travelling fans.

Adam Henley took credit for The Magpies’ second goal but as Pilling went one way the ball deflected the opposite way and into the net.

The home side went in at half time in the lead but a mere 10 minutes after the game commenced Waring popped up to head home his second goal and equal the score.

It took only three minutes for Chorley to score again following a goalmouth scramble as Warrington failed to clear.

The remainder of the match was end-to-end. Both sides had their chances but it was Chorley who were the victors at Victory Park.

Warrington Rylands are at home on Tuesday 10th when they host South Liverpool FC in the Liverpool Senior Cup.
