GALLAWAY Construction, the main contractor for the £5 million renovation of Warrington’s iconic Pyramid Centre, is deepening its commitment to the local community this holiday season with a series of charitable initiatives aimed at supporting local homeless residents.
Gallaway has donated 25 winter survival backpacks to vulnerable rough sleepers through Warrington’s Room at the Inn shelter, with additional contributions planned to support the shelter’s Christmas celebrations.
Gallaway Construction is aware of the unique challenges facing those living on the streets, especially as temperatures drop. The survival backpacks are filled with essential items that will provide critical support to rough sleepers through the cold winter months. Each backpack includes thermal blankets, first aid kits, LED torches, safety whistles, reusable ponchos, hygiene products, gloves, and socks—items carefully selected to aid in staying warm, safe, and healthy during the cold season.
At Gallaway, we strive to make a real, tangible impact on the communities we work within,” said Renee Preston, Director of Gallaway Construction. “Through these winter backpacks, we hope to bring comfort and security to people facing harsh weather conditions without shelter. This initiative is about coming together as a community to show that we care.”
Claire from Room at the Inn shared her appreciation: “For those facing homelessness this winter, these items mean survival. The blankets will offer essential warmth, and the torches and whistles provide a layer of security for those sleeping on the streets.”
This donation follows Gallaway’s ongoing support for Room at the Inn, a Warrington charity dedicated to sheltering and supporting the homeless. Previously, Gallaway site workers dedicated time and resources to clear accumulated waste material at the shelter using their on-site skips, a gesture that has significantly improved the available space and functionality of the premises both indoors and outdoors making it more accessible, welcoming, and usable for shelter guests. This act of service underscores the company’s ongoing commitment to providing impactful, hands-on support where it’s needed most.
“Gallaway and the team have been excellent, they have actively engaged with us and listened to our needs,” said Mel from Room at the Inn. “Gallaway’s support in removing waste has made a huge difference. The yard is now a more inviting space, and areas that were unusable can now serve as private spaces for those in need.”
In the spirit of the holiday season, Gallaway will also provide Christmas decorations and 40 Christmas dinners for the shelter’s holiday celebration, fostering a warm and festive atmosphere for guests who may otherwise not have a holiday experience. ” Gallaway’s work has helped make a positive impact on our shelter, and really lifted the spirits of our service users in the leadup to Christmas,” Claire added. ” It’s been wonderful to have such meaningful involvement from a company that genuinely cares.”
As Gallaway Construction carries forward the significant renovation works at Warrington’s Pyramid Centre, the company is determined to make a lasting impact not only though delivering excellence in bringing one of Warrington’s most important cultural landmarks, but also on the Warrington community through engagement with its residents, businesses and schools through their initiatives.
