CEO of Kids Planet Day Nurseries, Clare Roberts from Lymm, has successfully completed a gruelling trek across Cambodia, including the Angkor Wat temple, raising £12,800 of vital funds for charity.

The challenging expedition saw Clare navigate tough terrains and high temperatures, all in support of EY Foundation’s mission to create better futures for young people. Her days started at 7am, and she walked around 20 kilometres across waterlogged rice fields, branches in the jungle, and scrambling up steep and unstable rocks.
The EY Foundation helps young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in the UK transition into education, employment, or entrepreneurship. By providing access to skills development, mentorship, and opportunities, the charity supports those aged 13–25 to overcome barriers and achieve their ambitions.
Clare’s determination inspired a wave of fundraising activities across Kids Planet nurseries, with staff, children, and families coming together to support the cause. For example:

  1. Kids Planet Llandudno hosted a vibrant fancy dress day
  2. Kids Planet Crewe transformed into an art gallery, showcasing children’s artwork to parents and families
  3. Kids Planet Prestwich held a crazy hair day which saw children with bright colours and over-the-top styles
  4. The Kids Planet SEND Team embarked on a fundraising walk around Chorlton Water Park, highlighting the importance of teamwork and community

Combined, these efforts, along with Clare’s trek, have raised an impressive total of over £12,800 for the EY Foundation, with additional donations still coming in.
Reflecting on her journey, Clare Roberts commented: “This trek was one of the most challenging but fulfilling experiences of my life, with extreme temperatures, rough terrains, and just five days to complete.
There were eight of us in total, and we inspired and supported each other every day. Exploring Cambodia’s unspoiled countryside and culture was truly unforgettable.
It was inspiring to see our Kids Planet nurseries rally together with such enthusiasm and creativity, all for a cause that helps transform young lives. I want to thank everyone who has supported us and donated. Your sponsorship will go directly to the EY Foundation and make a real difference to young people’s lives, helping them develop the skills and potential they need to succeed in work and beyond.”

Donations are still open, and contributions can be made via this link.
