Karen Bliss, Trust Chair at Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, will step down from her role on 31 March 2025.
Karen has served on Bridgewater’s Board since the organisation was created in 2011, firstly as a Non-Executive Director and then as Trust Chair for more than five years. Throughout this time, Karen has been an invaluable advocate for community health and the delivery of care closer to home.
Speaking about her decision to step down, Karen said: “I have been immensely proud to have worked for Bridgewater for so many years, alongside so many wonderful colleagues. I am equally proud of the services we provide and the positive impact we have had on the lives of people across Cheshire, Merseyside, Greater Manchester and Lancashire.
“One of my proudest achievements has been to help lead the organisation through the Covid-19 pandemic and its aftermath, seeing countless people going above and beyond for their patients and colleagues in true NHS spirit.
“We are in exciting times as we continue to integrate with Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals. The progress we have made over recent months has been impressive and I look forward to following the journey of our two organisations and seeing the integration programme reach the successful conclusion that I know it will.
“From a personal perspective, the time is right for me to step down at the end of March as I come towards the end of my term as Chair. I am looking forward to spending more time with my family, safe in the knowledge that we have some exceptionally talented teams here striving every day to do their best for our patients and their families.”
Further information about plans for Bridgewater’s Chair position will be shared as soon as possible.
