Various road closures at Poplars & Hulme for road or footway resurfacing

ROAD closures covering a period of eight weeks are set to come into force in the Poplars & Hulme area of Warrington starting from Monday, December 2nd, although no works will take place over the festive period.

The works are for road or footway resurfacing but works will be suspended from December 21st until January 5th over the Christmas and New Year period.

Warrington Borough Council has made an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which is to introduce a prohibition of driving & clearway as follows: Entire lengths of road: Canberra Square; Meteor Crescent; Sandalwood Close; Buttermere Crescent; Honister Avenue; Part length of road: Mardale Avenue from the junction with Penrith Avenue to the junction with Scafell Avenue.
The Order will be effective from 2nd December 2024. The restrictions are for a period of 8 weeks, between 8:30am and 5:30pm, however, will be in place as and when signed on site. No works will take place from 21st December 2024 to 5th January 2025 due to Christmas/New Year. Access will be under the control of the relevant Contractor for the duration of the works. The alternative route will be Mardale Avenue via Penrith Avenue, Howson Road, Scafell Avenue and vice versa; Honister Avenue via Kirkstone Avenue, Statham Avenue and vice versa. The restrictions are required for road or footway surfacing.
