Community minded Steve gets a reward for footpaths clean-up

1

WHEN community-minded Steve Jones decided to clean-up the footpaths near his home, he didn’t realise he was being closely watched.

But as he worked, over several weeks, along Stockport Road, Thelwall he was spotted by nearby resident Janet Taylor, who felt he deserved a reward.
She took it on herself to approach a number of local businesses – and they agreed with her.
As a result, Grappenhall and Thelwall Parish Council chairman Mark Browne and parish wardens Martin Stuart and Bradley Lowe met Steve in Stockport Road for a presentation.
Businesses who made donations to say “thank you” were: The Big Blue (a fish and chip supper), the Barber on Barley Road (a free haircut), the Pickering arms (a meal for two)), The Little Manor (a meal and drink), Inches, Barley Road, (a gift voucher) and the Royal British Legion (membership and free drinks).
Steve, needless to say, is still keeping busy cleaning the footpaths, alongside the parish wardens!
