Residents of Whittle Hall Care Residence in Warrington were treated to a visit from children from Dunky’s Day Nursery in Great Sankey.
The pre-school children, all aged three and over, popped into the home to join the residents in a sing song and some dancing.
Cheryl Humphries, the Nursery Manager of Dunky’s Great Sankey in Barrow Hall Lane, said: “We love getting involved with the local community so we were delighted to take a group of children from the nursery to visit residents at Whittle Hall after being invited there by Little Movers Warrington.
“The children were really excited about the trip and enjoyed walking to the care home. On their way we chatted about all the things we could see and hear and pointed out wildlife such as ducks and geese on the pond.
“When we arrived at the care home we met the residents, and they were all really pleased to see us.
“Sarah from Little Movers played some music and encouraged the children and the residents to join in.
“We sang lots of lovely songs, including Somewhere Over the Rainbow and the children joined in dancing with the residents and waving colourful pieces of voile and rainbow spinners.
“It was such good fun and very special to see the different generations interacting, laughing and enjoying themselves. We were all super tired at the end of the session. We’re looking forward to another visit to the home in November.”
Chloe Sturgess from L & M Care Home said: “We enjoyed welcoming staff and children from Dunky’s Great Sankey to the home and the residents really loved their time with them. Seeing the connection between them and the children was just so magical.”
