A youth who sexually assaulted a Warrington schoolgirl under the guise of playing “truth or dare’ has been put behind bars.
Ryan French aged 18, molested the secondary school girl in July and then told her not to tell anyone.
The scared victim did however tell her mum and when French was confronted about the allegations he described himself as ‘f….d in the head.’
The defendant, of Lodge Lane, Bewsey and Whitecross, Warrington, was sentenced to two and a half years detention and ordered to sign on the Sex Offenders Register for life.
He had pleaded guilty to four offences of sexual activity with a child and one of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
Sentencing French Judge Stuart Driver, KC, said that the victim was vulnerable and he told her not to tell anyone what he had done.
But he said he took into account that he has no previous convictions, is young and immature and had had a difficult childhood. He also has mental problems including ADHD and has been suicidal.
The judge imposed a ten year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
David Watson, prosecuting, had told the court that French played ‘truth or dare’ with the girl which she later described as having become “weird.”
During the game she stripped to her underwear and he sexually assaulted her including digital penetration on two occasions.
Paul Becker, defending, said that French deeply regretted his behaviour and had said, “There are no excuses for what I have done.”
