Lengthy delays on M56 due to collapsed drainage cover

UPDATED: LENGTHY delays and eleven miles of congestion were reported on the M56 near Warrington this afternoon following a collapsed drainage cover.

Two of three lanes are closed on M56 eastbound within J12 Runcorn impacting traffic heading to Liverpool Airport.

Two lanes are closed for emergency roadworks due to a collapsed drainage cover.

Highways England is reporting delays of two hours with eleven miles of congestion this afternoon.

All lanes have now re-opened.
