PLANS for a new timber covered pergola at the popular Turf and Feather pub, in Glover Road, Locking Stumps have been given the green light by Warrington planners.
The scheme was approved after officers had heard that the side patio, where the pergola is to be sited, is not particularly attractive and has poor access from the bar area.
Customers had to go back out through the main entrance to sit on the patio.
Picnic benches felt more like they were on the car park than in a dedicated, safe customer seating area.
A garage, accessed from the side car park, was no longer used for vehicles and was a weak security spot for the rear of the site.
The plan was to add a new fence to enhance security.
An external beer garden would be revamped with a new covered external pergola for external seating to attract new customers to the venue.
An unsightly porch which forms the main entrance will be demolished .
