POLICE are clamping down on parking in historic Grappenhall village following ongoing issues with motorists parking on footpaths.
While officers have been on patrol along Church Lane, Grappenhall they discovered a number of cars had been parked causing an Unnecessary Obstruction of the footpaths.
Local officers say Church Lane is clearly signposted in regards to the parking restrictions and there are ample reminder signs along the road. Not understanding a road sign is not a defence, If this is the case they suggest motorists revisit the Highway Code.
A number of fixed penalty notices have been issued and officers will continue to patrol the location during the coming weeks.
Meanwhile Warrington Borough Council has announced major heritage related road works are set to start in the area next month which will result in road closures for up to four weeks from August 5.

Be nice to see some PCSO out on the nearby estate St Wilfred drive ,Glebe Avenue to sort out some of the drivers that park their cars indiscriminately on corners of junctions and footpaths
