LYMM Runners are a regular and familiar sight running along the pavements, tracks and trails in and around the village.
As well as organising races and other events the Club also gives back to the community.
This year the Club has donated £5,400 to local good causes. These include six local primary schools, The Run Through Foundation, (started by two Lymm Locals), The Warrington Wolves Foundation Disability Holiday Camp, Friends of Spud Wood, and finally, the Helen Margaret Owen Foundation.
Spud Wood is a regular summer haunt of the Club Runs.
Jo Yellen from Friends of Spud Wood said: “We are really pleased Lymm Runners are supporting our efforts to improve wildlife habitats in Spud Wood, their donation will improve our Meadow Development Project.”
The Helen Margaret Owen Foundation was founded by Lymm resident Helen Owen and was in need of play equipment for the nursery school she has built and maintains in Uganda.
Helen commented: “The children were so excited when a merry-go-round and swings were delivered to the school. These children are orphans or from very poor backgrounds and don’t even have toys, so the laughter and fun this has brought is an absolute joy. Thank you very much.”
