A Warrington mum has been warned she faces a jail term after admitting smuggling drugs into Risley Prison.

Sentence on Leoni Pountley was adjourned yesterday (Tue) after her lawyer asked for an additional pre-sentence report to be prepared.

Eve Salter, defending, told Liverpool Crown Court that she has a young son and had been acting under duress when she committed the offences.

The judge, Recorder Peter Cowan, told 36-year-old Pountley, “You must appreciate you stand in the gravest danger of being sent to custody to taking these drugs into prison.”

He further remanded her on bail but warned her, ”It is no indication at all as to the likely sentence. All sentencing options remain open.”

Pountley, of Kestrel Lane, Birchwood, pleaded guilty to three offences involving conveying cocaine, cannabis resin and tobacco into HMP Risley on April 8 2022 and possessing cannabis.

She had been due to be sentenced but this was adjourned at the request of Miss Salter for an addendum to her probation report.

The judge further remanded her on bail until May 14.
