Man charged following fatal collision on M62 more than two years ago

A man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving following a fatal collision on the M62 near Warrington more than two years ago.

Following the fatal crash on the M62 in September 2021 a Bolton man appeared in court for the first time yesterday, Friday.

Gary Toomey is charged with causing the death of Victoria Bell by driving an Audi dangerously on the eastbound M62 between junctions 7 and 8.

It was reported by police that around 11.35pm on Friday 24 September a black Audi A3 had collided with the central reservation between junctions 7 Rainhill Stoops and eight for Burtonwood and there was a subsequent collision involving a Silver Mercedes SUV.

Ms Bell, aged 35, who was driving the Audi, was treated by paramedics at the scene but sadly died of her injuries.

Toomey, aged 36 of Hollin Hey Road, Bolton appeared at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court and the case was sent to the crown court and he was further remanded on unconditional bail until April 19.
