Issues for LGBTQIA+ people in receiving healthcare

0

THE experiences and issues for LGBTQIA+ people in receiving healthcare will be explored at a University of Chester event in Warrington to mark LGBT+ History Month.

The university’s Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences is hosting the free event on Wednesday, February 28, from 3 pm to 5 pm, at University Centre Warrington’s Time Square hub. The event can also be watched online.

Invited speakers from the University’s Faculty of Health, Medicine and Society and the LGBT+ Student Society will reflect on the month’s theme for 2024 of Medicine and Health: #UnderTheScope.
The event will share the real lived experiences of LGBTQIA+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, and Asexual +) people in accessing and receiving healthcare and will explore, from the point of view of healthcare practice, some of the issues and health inequalities many LGBTQIA+ people still face today.
