Lengthy delays of 70 minutes on M56 following collision

LENGTHY delays of 70 minutes were being reported on the M56 near Warrington following a collision during the rush hour period.

Highways England reported two lanes being closed on the M56 in Cheshire eastbound between J14 (Hapsford) and J12 (Runcorn) due to a collision. Traffic was passing the scene in lane 1.

There were 70-minute delays with approximately 6.5 miles of congestion.

All lanes have now re-opened although delays were slow to clear.
