Local man arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life following house fire

A 22-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life following a house fire on Wilderspool Causeway, Warrington this morning (Monday).

Four people had to be rescued from the property as firefighters tackled the blaze, including a rooftop rescue.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: “At around 6.40 am today, Monday 19 February, police were called to reports of a fire at an address on Wilderspool Causeway, Warrington.

“Officers attended the scene, and the fire was swiftly extinguished by colleagues from Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service.

“The address was evacuated and three people have been taken to hospital as a precaution.

“The cause of the fire is being treated as suspicious at this time and enquiries are ongoing.

“A 22-year-old local man has since been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.”
