Six-bedroom house to be demolished

A PLAN to demolish a six-bedroom house in a leafy part of Appleton and replace it with a new dwelling has been approved by Warrington planning chiefs.

One neighbour opposed the scheme on the grounds it would cause a loss of privacy and noise and other disturbance from a proposed swimming pool and hot tub house
But members of the borough council’s development management committee were told permission already existed for an extension at Merricourt, in Windmill Lane, Appleton and that officers believed the new replacement scheme was preferable.
The existing house was not listed, locally listed nor in a conservation area.

A replacement dwelling at the site was considered acceptable and the proposal was a more attractive and coherent design than the extant permission for an extended
property. In addition, there would be no greater impact on the amenities of the neighbouring properties as a result of the proposal.
The committee approved the scheme.
