Warrington Animal Welfare welcomes helping hand from housebuilder

WARRINGTON Animal Welfare has received a £500 donation from David Wilson Homes to support its running costs.

The welfare centre at Slutchers Lane is dedicated to the care of all abandoned, abused and unwanted domestic animals. It raises awareness of responsible pet ownership, including neutering and microchipping, assists owners with low-cost operations to curb the number of strays in the area, and offers a rescue and rehoming service.
To help with the increased cost of the charity’s services due to the cost-of-living crisis, the housebuilder made the contribution towards its services, specifically in helping to microchip and neuter the cats in its care.

Cheryl Goodier, Sales Office Manager at David Wilson Homes North West and volunteer at Warrington Animal Welfare, said: “Warrington Animal Welfare is entirely reliant upon donations from the local community and businesses to help care for the dogs, cats, guinea pigs and rabbits in the area.
“The charity’s volunteers are vital in keeping the unit running. It’s very hands-on with feeding, constant cleaning and nursing the animals back to health, as well as playing and interacting with them. The centre is solely reliant on donations, so anything helps and is always welcome.
“Many organisations are struggling due to the current conditions, so it is more important than ever that we support our local charities in any way we can.”

Claire Jarvis, Managing Director at David Wilson North West, said: “Warrington Animal Welfare provides a fantastic service and compassionate support for the domestic animals throughout the local area.
“It’s a privilege for us to have the opportunity to support local causes. We hope our contribution will help the furry friends in the charity’s care and we encourage anyone able to lend a hand to do so.”
