Warrington’s only alternative club night announces return of annual event

IT’S three cheers for Emo Prom as Warrington’s only alternative club night announces the return of the annual event.

Taking place for the 3rd year since ‘Asylum’ returned to its original home after a a number of years absence, the very special night on Friday 23rd March will see a huge balloon drop, slow dance, black roses handed out to attendees, prom photos with the in-house photographer and the all important crowning of the King & Queen of Asylum 2024!
Eden on Barbauld Street  in Warrington serves as the venue once again, a place that has held monthly ‘Asylum’ nights since July 2021, and has hosted a host of big name names over the years including Funeral For A Friend, Sean Smith (The Blackout) and in May last year, You Me At Six who recently announced they were splitting up in 2025.
Founder and DJ, Lee Harman says:  “Asylum has been incredibly important for the alternative music scene in the town, creating a safe space for people of all ages and associations. We’ve also managed to bring some massive names to the town, who would have never come here otherwise.”

The nights which included a 600 sold out capacity afterparty for My Chemical Romance’s Warrington show in the past has included themes such as the ‘Pop Punk Pizza Party’ and ‘The Asylum Before Halloween’. It has also hosted giveaways for Festivals including Download, Slam Dunk & Bloodstock.
What we offer rivals anything else in the big cities, and there is nowhere else in town that comes close to the effort we put into our nights! But the love is returned and some incredible effort is made to look the part when Prom comes to town!”
Asylum recently teamed up with local barbers, Lords of the North to raise over £100 for Movember, and is working with local business once again to provide great prizes for those who fetch their old Prom dresses from the attic or re-embraces the guyliner look when the King & Queen will win a meal for two courtesy of Cafe At The End Of The Universe, and a Axe Throwing/ Mini Golf package courtesy of Level Up (Buttermarket St).

As well as Asylum Warrington heading into its 3rd year, a 2nd sister site in Leigh has also gone from strength to strength, returning in 2024 with its own Emo Prom.
Lee, who has also DJ’d at Porters Rock Bar and recently in Stockport alongside Deaf Havana says: “these nights have been really special with people travelling far and wide to be part of a wider community. With “alternative” music being more popular than ever, it’s time to say it wasn’t a phase, grow that fringe and get that head banging!”
Three Cheers For Emo Prom III will take place at Eden, Warrington on Friday 23rd February, 10;30pm-3am. From £3 (in advance).
