SENTENCING of former professional cricketer Grant Hodnett for harassment had to be adjourned today, Friday, after he was involved in a prison van crash.

The 41-year-old former Grappenhall cricketer was due at Liverpool Crown Court but en route in Bootle the van bringing him from Altcourse prison was involved in a road traffic accident.
The court heard that Hodnett, a personal trainer, was initially taken into the adjacent South Sefton Magistrates Court for assessment but was then taken to hospital because of a head injury.

Hodnett, formerly of Hill Top Road, Warrington, was to be sentenced for breaching a restraining order made at Warrington Magistrates Court on 15 September 2020. The offence took place on November 1 last year.
The judge, Recorder Mark Ainsworth adjourned sentence until February 22 and said, “I hope he’s ok.”
