Plan for storage building on Green Belt site

PLANS have been drawn up for a new agricultural storage building on a 12-acre Green Belt site at Croft, near Warrington.

The scheme is at The Stables, Turret Hall Farm, Stone Pit Lane, Croft and is currently being studied by borough council planning chiefs.
Surrounding properties are a mix of farmhouses and cottages set in open countryside.
According to the applicant, Suhaib Abdullah, the size of the holding is insufficient to support traditional farming methods. The previous use was for equestrian purposes, providing livery for 20 horses, in conjunction with taking a hay crop from the land, constituting an agricultural use of the land. The applicant is currently planting a 600 tree market orchard.

The proposed new building is needed for orchard crop storage and machinery and an associated workshop.
In addition, barn facilities are required for existing livestock, including sheep and goats.
The appearance and size of the proposed building will be in keeping with existing agricultural buildings on the site.
