Police seek witnesses following serious assault

POLICE are seeking witnesses following a serious assault in the Bewsey and Whitecross area of Warrington last Friday, January 5.

Two men have been arrested since the assault on Clap Gates Road at around 4 pm last Friday which left a 39-year-old man in hospital with serious injuries.

A 55-year-old man has since been released without charge while a 28-year-old man is helping officers with their enquiries.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: “Detectives investigating a serious assault in Warrington have arrested a 28-year-old man.

“The arrest is in relation to a 39-year-old man being assaulted in Clap Gates Road, Bewsey and Whitecross at 4 pm on Friday 5 January.

“The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries and their condition is improving.

“A 55-year-old man was arrested following earlier police enquiries and has been released without charge. Enquiries are continuing.
“Anyone with information should contact Cheshire police on 101 quoting IML 1728631.
