Yellows pick up a point on long road trip

WARRINGTON Town were held to their first goalless draw of the season on their long away trip to King’s Lynn Town.

Neither side could find a clear enough opening to settle the match, with Isaac Buckley-Ricketts coming the closest in the first half as his drive across goal was cleared off the line.

Josh Popoola had a shot saved by Paul Jones and good link up play between him and Mitch Duggan created half a chance for Dec Walker, who volleyed over the bar.

The main concern for the Yellows in the first half was a knock picked up by goalkeeper Dan Atherton as he cleared a ball down the touchline, though he played on after his left ankle was wrapped up by the physio.

The lively Jordan Ponticelli flashed a shot wide of the far post for King’s Lynn in the first half, but his threat was neutralised after the break as the game became more of a stalemate.

Gibraltar international Kian Ronan fizzed a rocket of a half volley just wide of the post for the hosts’ best chance, while Buckley-Ricketts almost got on the end of a late pullback from Josh Amis.

The Yellows are next in action at home to Banbury United on December 23.
