Where to cruise on the Daniel Adamson steam boat in 2024

THE Daniel Adamson Preservation Society has announced their 2024 programme of cruises on canals in the Cheshire, Liverpool and Manchester areas.

They start on may 5 and continue throughout May, June, July, August, September and October and take In canal cruises take in the Royal Albert Dock and Sandon Dock in Liverpool, Mode Wheel Lock, Salford, Sutton Weaver Swing Bridge, Action Bridge, the Anderton Boat Lift, Marsh Lock and Latchford.
Passengers on the unique steam boat Daniel Adamson – affectionately known as “The Danny” will not only experience the sumptuous interior of the unique craft but also magnificent canal-side scenery.
Built in 1903 she was a working tug on the Mersey/ but saw service in World War 1. But in 1936 she was re-desgiend and fitted out as a luxury launch.

But she was eventually withdrawn from service and i9bn 2004 she was earmarked for scrapping.
Within days a campaign was launched to save “The Danny” – led by Mersey tug skipper Dan Cross.
Supporters came forward from all over the North West and event further afield.
Thanks to hours of fundraising and volunteer work, the old boat was restored and is today described as a mini-version of the great Atlantic liners which once sailed regular from Liverpool.
“The Danny runs” regular cruizes and mini-cruises and can also be hired for groups or for special events.
