POLICE are appealing for witnesses after two men were bitten following a XL Bully-type dog attack at Birchwood, Warrington.

At around 3pm last Tuesday 24 October a man on a mobility scooter was walking his dog when a dog, described as looking like a XL bully, approached them near to Hamnett Court and attacked the man’s dog. The man tried to intervene and was bitten in the process.

Another man tried to help and was also bitten. A third assisted a woman, who claimed the dog was hers, by putting a lead on the dog, and the woman left the area with the animal.
The dog is described as a male XL Bully-type, tall and slim. He is brown in colour with white patches.

PC Victoria Taylor said: “I understand this may cause concern in the community and we are working hard to try and locate the dog and its owner. Witnesses also said there were some schoolchildren filming the incident. I’d urge anyone with footage of the attack to contact me.”
