Up to five weeks of evening closures as work starts on busy roundabout at Appleton

UP to five weeks of road works have started tonight (Monday)  on a busy roundabout at Appleton from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. so the works can be undertaken safely.

Residents, Businesses and Motorists are being advised that works to resurface the roundabout at BROOM AVENUE, BRIDGE LANE, WITHERWIN AVENUE & LONGWOOD ROAD, Appleton, have commenced from 9 October 2023 and will take up to 5 weeks to complete.

The roundabout and its side roads will be closed between 7:00 pm and 1:00 am Monday to Friday (Saturday morning) to undertake the work safely.

All roads will be fully open to traffic outside these times. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times during the works. Vehicular access will be under the control of the Contractor on site.
The diversion route will be via A49 London Road, A56 Grappenhall Road, Lumb Brook Road and vice versa or via A49 London Road, Longwood Road, Dipping Brook Avenue, Blackcap Road, Stretton Road, Lumb Brook Road and vice versa.
All-access will be under the control of the contractor on-site at all times during the works.
All roads will be fully open to traffic outside the working times. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times during the works.
Vehicles parked on the road or footway obstructing the works may be removed.

For residents of Epsom Gardens and Appleford Close, access will be provided when possible and safe to do so by the contractor on site from Bridge Lane. Please speak to the operatives on site and they will be able to advise when access will and will not be possible due to the nature of the works taking place.

Further information and the signed diversion route will be available at www.warrington.gov.uk/roadworks prior to the start of the scheme. Cones, barriers and signs are there for a reason – to protect our workers from danger and to keep the public safe. We urge drivers to pay close attention to safety when driving near roadworks.
