Rylands dig in to overcome United

WARRINGTON Rylands extended their unbeaten run to ten games, recording their 5th consecutive victory beating FC United of Manchester 1-0 last night under the Gorsey Lane floodlights.

The games decisive moments arrived less than 30 seconds into the second half. Substitute Scott Bakkor, a half time replacement for James Baillie, struck with a well taken goal. Racing onto Adama Sidibeh’s flick into the area he calmly guided the ball past United goalkeeper Pat Boyes.
The first half had been a frantic, scrappy affair with neither side being able to settle into a rhythm and assert control over proceedings with both teams being restricted to shots from distance.
Sidibeh fired a shot across the face of United’s goal in the opening minutes, Ben Hardcastle had a shot deflected wide and Ben Hough was inches wide with a shot from outside the area.

United’s best chances fell to Jay Fitzmartin who fired in two shots the first was easilt saved by Rylands goalkeeper Luke Pilling while the second whistled just over the bar.
United enjoyed the greater share of play after Bakkor’s goal but for all their efforts rarely looked like breaking down a hard working Rylands defence which defended resolutely with Pilling being called on to take a few high balls slung into the area and make a couple of routine saves. He did pull off a spectacular flying stop to tip a curling Elliot Morris shot away for a corner in the 65th minute.
Despite being pushed deeper and deeper by their opponents, Rylands were dangerous on the break and looked the most likely to score with both Bakkor and Hough firing shots across the United goal, while Boyes did well to tip a Sidibeth shot from outside the area over the bar.
