Air ambulance attends as young cyclist seriously injured during collision on Winwick Road

THE air ambulance attended after a teenage cyclist was seriously injured following a collision on Winwick Road near Warrington & Vale Royal College, this afternoon (Tuesday).

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: “Shortly after 4.15 pm on Tuesday 12 September, police were called to reports of a collision on Winwick Road involving a car and a cyclist.
“The cyclist, a teenager, is believed to have suffered serious injuries and is being treated at the scene by paramedics. An air ambulance is also in attendance.”
No other details are available at this stage.
It’s understood local road closures were put in place with traffic diverted into Long Lane.
With ongoing road works on Lovely Lane, heavy traffic was reported across town.
