VOLUNTEERS are once again busy preparing for the annual Poppy Appeal at Lymm which helps raise thousands of pounds for the Royal British Legion.

The 2023 Poppy Appeal starts on Saturday 28th October and runs through until Saturday 11th November with Remembrance Sunday on the 12th November.

Poppy Appeal Co-ordinator for Lymm Linda Monk said: “There are times when you feel immensely proud of your local community, and that’s never more true than during the period of Remembrance. For the last couple of years we’ve been proud to display Poppies along Rushgreen Road, through the village and up Eagle Brow and also this year we’re hoping to be able to extend them along the A56. And, our community has supported us with such very generous hearts for which we are immensely grateful.

“The Royal British Legion Poppy is a symbol of Remembrance and Hope, hope for a peaceful future. For over 100 years Remembrance has been part of the fabric of society, honouring those who served and continue to serve to defend our democratic freedoms and way of life. We unite across faiths, cultures and background to remember the sacrifice of the Armed Forces community from Britain and the Commonwealth,” added Linda.

Every Poppy sold helps the Royal British Legion to make a difference to the lives of people in our Armed Forces Community. Their work is entirely dependent on the generous support of the public and all donations raised during the Poppy Appeal help the RBL to provide life-long support to serving and ex-serving members of the British Armed Forces, their families and dependents through hardships, injuries, rehabilitation and bereavements.
Again, this year the Lymm fundraisers asking people to wear your Poppy with pride and, in addition, if you’d like to make a donation to sponsor one of their lamp post poppies in remembrance of a loved one then please do contact Linda on [email protected]
