A temporary speed limit and a number of footpath closures will come into force for a period of five weeks to accommodate the Creamfields Music Festival over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

From August 3rd a 40 mph speed limit will be introduced on Chester Road from its junction with Warrington Road to the borough boundary with Halton. A number of local footpath closures will also come into force in the build-up to the event to restrict access to the site.

Warrington Borough Council has given notice it intends to make an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to introduce the following: –
40 MPH Speed Limit Restriction:
A56 Chester Road from its junction with Runcorn Road to the Borough Boundary with Halton.
Footpath Closures – PROW:
Hatton Footpath No.1 from its junction with Warrington Road to the Borough Boundary with Halton.; Walton Footpath No.3 from its junction with Chester Road to the Borough Boundary with Halton; Walton Footpath No.3A from Walton Footpath No.3 to the Borough Boundary with Halton.
The Order will be effective from Thursday 3rd August 2023 for 5 weeks, as and when signed on site. Access will be under the control of the relevant Contractor for the duration of the restrictions. An alternative route will be signed and available on site. The reason for the temporary restrictions is to facilitate construction works associated with the Creamfields Event 2023.
