LYMM Heritage Centre is seeking a new trustee to join the team to help with ambitious plans for the future.

Now six years on from when it first opened, the Heritage Centre has been one of many great initiatives in Lymm over the past ten years or more, all aimed at strengthening a sense of community.

The relaunched Youth & Community Centre, Transport Day, Sanctuary Hub, Lymm Rocks, Mix 56,(which started as Lymm Radio) and Lymm in Bloom are all examples.

Lymm Heritage Centre which went from being just an idea in 2015 to a new centre in a beautifully converted building that opened in the heart of the village in June 2017. Since then it has welcomed over 30,000 visitors as well as thousands of children on school learning visits. The Lymm Archive, set up by the Centre has just passed 5,000 entries. It’s a unique and valuable online collection of photos and documents. Well over 100 volunteers have contributed to the Centre’s success, both giving of their skills and also learning new ones, while thousands of people worldwide have enjoyed interacting with the Centre on social media.

The Centre now has ambitious plans to develop further and as part of the plan it is seeking to strengthen the team in a number of areas including. marketing, fundraising, exhibition strategy, community engagement and education. The Centre can be contacted via its website www.lymmhic.co.uk.
In particular, the Centre would like to be able to appoint at least one new Trustee to join the existing team of four, chaired by local man Alan Williams. As well as complying with the statutory key duties of a charity trustee, that person would be expected to contribute to an ongoing strategic review of the Centre’s activities, helping to identify and develop new initiatives that will contribute to the ongoing success of the Centre. Working with such a small organisation the Board would be looking for someone also prepared to take a hands-on approach, willing to apply their skills and get involved in depth in at least one specific area such as those mentioned above.
