A travellers encampment that arrived on playing fields at Appleton Thorn at the weekend has been served with a notice to leave the site.

The encampment of 10 caravans arrived on the Warrington Borough Council owned playing fields last Sunday.

A Section 60c notice has now been served ordering them to leave the site.

It follows on from an encampment of 10 caravans arriving on council owned land at Silver lane, Risley on the Saturday and vacating the site the following day.

No other traveller encampments are currently listed in the Warrington area, although several caravans are still located on the overflow car park near Orford Jubilee Hub.
