FLYING Warrington Wolves’ winger Georgia Sutherland has her sights firmly fixed on the 2025 Rugby League World Cup after being selected in the England Knight’s Performance Squad.

Georgia, who scored more than 40 tries last season, will be linking up with the 19-strong squad next month and is determined to force her way into head coach Stuart Barrow’s plans for the senior England international against Wales in November.
But her selection came as a surprise after returning from a holiday in Greece.

She said: “I got an email out of the blue and I was like ‘no way’. But I am really very happy to have been selected.
“I think I’ve been picked on my form from last season as well as the potential I have got for this season, which is a positive and means we are going in the right direction.
“The games are a lot tougher and more physical this season and there are a lot more technical elements I need to pick up with my game.
“But being picked by the Knights is an incentive to train that little bit harder and build up my skill set.
“I want to get that England shirt with the World Cup being in 2025 – that is something I definitely have in my sights.”

Stuart Barrow said: “The England Women’s Knights is a really important part of the international pathway and it gives some of our younger players who are knocking on the door the chance to earn themselves a place in the team to face Wales.”
England Women face Wales at Headingley Stadium on Saturday, November 4, as part of an international double header featuring the Men’s third Test Match against Samoa.
